Brand names: Climara Pro
Climara Pro is a medicated patch containing two hormones, estrogen and progestin. It is used to reduce the symptoms of menopause such as hot flashes.
Do not use Climara Pro to prevent heart disease, heart attacks, or strokes, or dementia. Using it may increase your chances of having heart attacks, strokes, breast cancer, and blood clots. Using estrogens with progestins may increase your risk of dementia (Alzheimer's disease). You and your doctor should talk regularly about whether you still need treatment with Climara Pro.
The Climara Pro patch should be applied to a clean, dry area of the lower abdomen. Do not apply the patch to your breasts.
Side effects cannot be anticipated. If any develop or change in intensity, inform your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Estradiol, Levonorgestrel .
Do not use Climara Pro if you have had your uterus removed (hysterectomy). If you have had unusual vaginal bleeding, cancer, heart attack or stroke within the year, blood clots, liver problems, or are allergic to any of Climara Pro's ingredients, do not take it.
Avoid exposing the patch to sunlight for extended periods of time. Water contact and tight clothing may cause the patch to fall off. If this occurs, re-apply the same patch; if Climara Pro does not re-stick, apply a new patch to a different area of the lower abdomen.
Tell your doctor about all of your existing medical conditions, and what prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal medicines you are taking. Also, tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding, will have surgery, or will be on bed rest.
Do not use Climara Pro if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are nursing. Hormones from the patch may pass into breast milk.
The Climara Pro patch should be applied once per week. Never apply two patches at the same time.
